Doug Hanna

Associate Pastor of Teaching &
Community Groups

Doug grew up in Winchester Kentucky and moved to Columbus in 1986 to attend college.  When Doug visited Sharon Woods Church on Palm Sunday in 1998, his life was a mess.  He heard the Gospel message and began a spiritual journey trying to sort out what God’s purpose was for his life.  In the summer of 1999, at the age of 31, Doug became a follower of Jesus and was “all in”.  God has created us all to know Him and be known by Him.

Over the past twenty years Doug has served at Sharon Woods as a community group leader, deacon, missions director, member of properties committee and in many other ways.  He has had the privilege of going on mission trips to Chicago, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, East Cleveland, China, India, Kenya, and Indonesia.

Doug is passionate about equipping God’s people to live their lives in community and on mission for Jesus - in their homes, communities, and world.  On January 1, 2019 Doug joined the staff tasked with two primary responsibilities – to assist Ken in the preaching ministry and to champion community groups at SWC.

Doug is married to the love of his life, Corrine.  They have four children - two adult daughters and two boys (a middle schooler and one in elementary school).  Doug is currently in pursuing a Master of Divinity at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
