It’s an opportunity for students to make a significant spiritual impact while leading and serving as a counselor in a
week-long kid’s summer program for 1st through 5th grades. It’s filled with sports, activities, games, learning and lots of exciting field trips. Students step outside the familiar and are immersed in a multicultural/urban setting. Many of the children in our program come from foster, blended, or single-parent homes. This program is all about relationships and getting to know and minister to kids on a personal level. Our main goal is to make a difference in children’s and impact their families by sharing the Gospel with our words and actions.
Choose an available week from our 8-week Summer Program listed below. Groups arrive Sunday evening for a meal and orientation, and usually leave Friday evening or Saturday morning. Many groups choose to visit one of Ohio's popular

SharonWoods Kid’s Summer Program takes place on the campus of SharonWoods Church, a 25,00 square-foot facility, which is located in the northern part of Columbus, Ohio. Columbus is America's 15th largest city and one of the most culturally diverse and unchurched cities in America. We are located in the most densely populated zip code in the city of Columbus . The neighborhoods surrounding the church consist of many under resourced families.
Students have an incredible opportunity to lead and make a real difference in the lives of kids by feeding them spiritually and modeling God’s love. Students/Counselors get to know the kids through engaging them in conversation during daily activities & trips. As a result, the counselors earn the right to share their life-changing stories and the Gospel story. During small group time, counselors help kids learn and apply Biblical principles to live and to understand the love of Jesus.
A typical week consist of leading and participating in various sports, fun activities, games, movies, Bible studies, small groups, meals, and exciting field trips around the Columbus area. Each day when camp concludes, your student group will have free time to play various games on the church campus like volleyball, dodge ball, basketball, four square, gaga ball, wiffle-ball, etc. and watch movies on a 9-foot screen in the Fellowship Center. Other evening options are Magic Mountain, laser tag, rock climbing, or a Columbus Clippers AAA baseball game!
The total cost is only $125 per person and includes housing on the church campus (a two-level duplex), all meals and snacks, camp t-shirt and all field trips. Chaperones are FREE! Must bring sleeping bags, (air mattresses or pads), pillows, bathroom linens and toiletries, modest swimming suits and pool towels. There are separate men's and women's sleeping quarters, upstairs bathrooms and two downstairs bathrooms with showers. The suggested group size is 8 - 22 people. A background check is required for those 18 and older.
